Non-food favors for your guests

Wedding favors aren’t hard to decide if you have a favorite candy, but when you don’t want to use food for a give-away, it can be distressing to come up with practical, cute and affordable ideas. We have a few ideas of our own that we believe are wonderful and affordable alternatives. Read on and mull them over!

Flip-flops. We love this idea because by the end of the night most of your guests are dying to get out of their shoes. Ladies wearing heels will be in need of a comfortable break and even men will love a breather from their fancy footwear.

Flower seeds. In the spirit of “love in bloom” or “planting seeds of love,” an adorable favor to send your guests away with is packets of flower seeds. Not only do they have a heartfelt meaning behind them, but your guests will have fun planting the seeds after the excitement of the wedding has come to a close. And they are something for your guests to remember your beautiful day by!

Phoot by Jerome Tso. These programs from Kyle + Karin's Wedding also served as a favor as you can "plant" this program that had seeds in it.

Match books. Include your wedding date, names and anything else that’s special to you and yours on a little matchbook for guests to take home. They are a functional gift to send your guests away with that everyone is most likely to utilize.

Tea/coffee. If you are more into your beverages than food, your favorite tea bags or small pouches of your favorite coffee grounds are an excellent give away. Personal and practical, these party favors are sure to bring joy to your guests.

Mini soap bars. We love this idea because it’s different, useful and inexpensive! Pick out your favorite bar soap fragrance and wrap them in labels that have your wedding date, names and any other note you want to include.

Shawls. Lightweight, affordable shawls, scarves, or afghans are a terrific addition to any outdoor or indoor party. If you are having a winter wedding, these are useful (and welcome) gifts to keep guests cozy. If you’re having a summer wedding, they will help keep your guests warm after the sun goes down on those chilly nights.

Make sure you don’t veer from your unique style when choosing a wedding favor for your guests. There are so many options aside from those listed above and there are no rules or boundaries. You can make them what you want, so here’s to hoping our ideas sparked a few of your own.
