For each of us, we imagine something a little different when taking that walk down the aisle. You have options of to decorate the aisle from traditional rose petals, runners, candles, pictures, etc. Like everything else involved in your wedding, you are only limited to what boundaries your mind creates.
How to Behave when Shopping for your Wedding Dress
Shopping for your wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of being engaged! Keep it classy and don’t embarrass yourself by following these 4 etiquette tips.
1. 1. Make an Appointment – all bridal salons either require or strongly recommend having an appointment before coming in. This will create the best experience for you as well as allow the salon to be best prepared to serve every bride that walks in their door. If you don’t have an appointment, do not expect the salon to squeeze you in as a walk-in.
2. 2. Don’t Bring a Huge Entourage – Deciding on who to bring with you can almost be harder than deicing on a dress! But remember, this decision is all about you and in order to keep from getting overwhelmed keep your entourage small. This is also out of respect for the bridal salon and other brides with appointments that day. A large and loud crowd only distracts from all the brides in the salon.
3. 3. Leave the Snacks at Home – You are entering an all-white, dry clean only zone! Leave all snacks and drinks, especially coffee at home! If you’ve picked a good salon, your consultant will offer you champagne during your appointment which, is better than coffee anyways!
4. 4. Don’t Try Dresses without Intention – Don’t waste your time, your entourages’ time or your consultant’s time by making an appointment with no intention of buying a dress. Bridal salons are not for dress up.
Don't be Overheated/Dehydrated on your wedding day!
With the intense our Seattle weather has given us and just will continue for the remainder of the summer and into fall, the most important thing is to stay cool and hydrated on your wedding day.
Here are some tips to make sure you are not overcome by the heat and sun:
- Sunscreen is absolutely vital, especially if any of your wedding is taking place outdoors. Be sure to cover up any exposed skin, and to use a different product for your face. Matt sunscreens are available if you want to avoid a shiny look.
- Dehydration is absolutely horrible, and it’s easy to forget to drink water when you’re busy greeting guests or partying under the stars. Ask one of your bridal party to keep an eye on how much H2O you’re consuming, and to bring you a glass of water every so often.
- Ask your hair stylist and make-up artist to consider the weather when they’re planning your look. Special make-up products are available to withstand the heat, while an up-do will always last better in the heat and humidity than a down-do will.
- While an outdoor venue is wonderful when the weather is fine, we recommend also having an air-conditioned room where guests (and you!) can go to cool off for a bit. A shaded area is also a must. Your guests will certainly to thank you!
- Umbrellas are a great and fun accessory for the bride and her ladies to help beat the heat and will look great in photos. Also, free standing umbrellas are a great way to shade the guests but steer away from guests popping up their own umbrella right in front of the photographer.
