To continue our talk of unique décor, today we will look at the larger pieces you can include to spice up your event. No matter what you decide upon, it should give the best depiction of you, as a couple AND as individuals. Most of these ideas sound like summer wedding only ideas, but you would be amazed at how well they work any other time of year.

1.      Wine barrels. If you’ve ever been to a truly wonderful winery, you will take note of the used wine barrels meticulously placed throughout the space and they’re never ending versatility. Many wineries use their own used wine barrels, usually engraved with their emblem, as tables that can literally hold anything. They are strong, durable, and offer the same elegance that a refurbished antique side table would. Did we mention they’re affordable? Wine barrels are recycled treasures, as most wineries have too many to utilize by the end of winemaking season, enticing them to simply give them away at no cost. If you have a favorite winery, inquire about their old wine barrels! It will make both you and the winemaker happy.     

2.      Couches. Bringing the indoors, outdoors is the most logical remedy to an otherwise uncomfortable, stiff patio chair event. It’s incredible how many lightweight, small leather couches are available at a nearby antique store for a logical price. Or if you’re into velvet—those are plentiful as well! After you’re done lounging on one of these beauties during your event, you can repurpose them in your own home or sell them to someone looking for a little comfy couch in their life. 

3.      Mason jar chandelier. Not just any chandelier—but a mason jar chandelier. If you have yet to bear witness to one of these before, get ready for one of the most stunning sights of your life. Large and decadent, this masterpiece is sure to “wow” guests at your wedding. Specialty craftsmen will often let you rent a mason jar chandelier for your special night; take a gander online to find out if there are any in your area!

4.      Doors in place of tables. I don’t mean to literally find a door and take it off it’s hinges in order to repurpose it as a table…unless you’re into that sort of thing. You can use an old door you have from a remodel or (if you haven’t recently gutted and revamped an old barn or 1930’s farmhouse) you can meander around an antique store and ask questions about where you can find one. You can leave it as is, or paint it, and use it as a table anywhere on your dream day!

5.      Farm tables. Why use rental rounds when you can repurpose a gorgeous farm table? If you’re having a smaller wedding, this is a great idea for your dinner—or even your rehearsal dinner. You can even use it for both events!

6.      China cabinets. Last but most certainly not least, china cabinets. I could yammer on all day about china cabinets. The best thing about china cabinets is that they are not only pretty to look at, but they are MULTI-PURPOSE. You can display pictures and add other accents in the upper cabinets (either remove the cabinet doors or leave them open), then place your guest book and welcome signs underneath the cabinet. You can then store various items in the lower cabinets that you don’t want guests to see (containers that the decorations will need to be repacked into, extra candles, etc.). Another use is placing your desserts variously among the cabinet shelves (again, upper cabinet doors open or unhinged and removed) inviting that old fashioned, effortlessly romantic feel to the room.
