Vendor Spotlight: Emcee | DJ Brandon Ghorley
Brandon Ghorley Emcee | DJ (BrandonGhorley.com)
I've had the privilege to work as an emcee and DJ in the Puget Sound for the past 11 years. I spent my first four years onsite at corporate events, learning the craft of playlist curation and finding my way as an emcee. The past 7 years my emphasis has been weddings. I work with 30 to 35 dynamic couples each year, and feel truly blessed to do so!
I've been told that the level of energy and enthusiasm I bring to the process is unique. I challenge myself to go 'all in' with each client. My hope is that what stands out is my sincere commitment to excellence.
When you are receiving DJ referrals from experienced planners like Lori and her team, you can assume that they meet the professional standards of experience and audio gear. To that effect, you have the luxury of taking the conversation further by focusing on 'personal story' questions. Ask your potential emcee/dj about who they are. Why do they enjoy being a DJ? What drives them? What elements of the job do they take pride in? And hopefully, the DJ will in turn be excited to hear your story. This person is essentially an honorary member of your family for the evening, and selecting the DJ that you connect with on a personal note will likely lead to the greatest experience.
I have so many great memories of things I've witnessed at my weddings! The most emotional thing I've seen took place during the ceremony. The bride had told me that her father had suffered brain damage from a work accident, and wasn't sure he'd be able to walk her down the isle. Everyone expected that her brother would do the honor. When the time came, to my surprise, as well as all of the guests -- her brother had constructed a harness for their dad and literally walked behind him, holding him upright (nearly off the ground) so he could walk his daughter down the isle. I was crying when it happened, and I'm trying not to cry as I write this!! lol!
I've seen a growing trend in the way that music preferences are shared. More and more people are creating Spotify playlists and sending me a link or a share request. It's kind of cool, because it allows the bride and groom to be enjoying the soundtrack they've created in the months leading up to the event, and then in my own way, I reinvent it onsite!
I'm honored to be the spotlight vendor for Elegant Affairs! I love working with Lori because she brings a calm, and a command to the event. What a wonderful career I've stumbled into!
