It’s not everyday when the groom’s lifelong vision comes to life when it comes to his wedding but for Jeremy it did. For as long as I can remember my baby cousin Jeremy had joked that if he ever did get married it would be when he was 30 and low and behold he was right!

I first met Jeremy when I was 9. I am the oldest cousin on my mom’s side and he is the youngest. Growing up I never really thought of him as my cousin but more like a brother. And as we grew older that relationship only further developed.

I still remember where I was when Jeremy called me to tell me he had met the one. He said he knew I would really like her since she was also from the same sorority as I am (Alpha Phi). When I met Jamie for the first time I knew she indeed was the one and I loved watching their relationship blossom over the years. We really bonded during our trip to Maui in 2016 when our other cousin got married that I planned.

Then the unthinkable happened when Jeremy was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This could be a hardship on any relationship, but not for Jamie + Jeremy. I think it only made their commitment and dedication to one another much more stronger. Jeremy kicked cancer’s ass and its in large credit to Jamie, which he would later recognize in his vows to her.

On the night of their engagement Jeremy called me before proposing telling me of his plan and asking for last minute advice to for it to be the perfect proposal. I told him to just relax and be himself and that Jamie would love however he asked! At that time I was working a wedding and when us vendors were eating I told them about my phone conversation and coincidentally the DJ, second photographer and baker were all vendors at that wedding and ended up being vendors for Jamie + Jeremy’s wedding.

After she yes then the planning began. It was a no-brainer that the two would say I Do in Suncaida, one of their favorite getaways (thanks to Jamie’s parents having a home there). Using all of our favorite vendors I knew this was going to be the most perfect day for two people whom I love so very much.

There were so many moments from this day and its hard to narrow just a handful, but the first one was is about our grandmother’s fur coat. Our grandmother passed away in 2016, just days before our cousin’s Maui wedding and there is not a day that goes by where we don’t think about her and miss her terribly. To honor her, I brought her fur coat which Jamie so graciously wore for photos and she looked so stunning. I wore the coat during the ceremony and then several family members took a turn wearing the famous coat. I know my grandma was there in spirit. You could just feel her all around that whole weekend.

One of the most orchestrated grand entrances I have ever planned happened this day. Jeremy was set on entering to Metallica’s Enter Sandman. To really kick off their party we timed their entrance via elevator just perfectly. (I can’t even tell you just how many times we rode that damn elevator to get the perfect timing, but it all worked out and was just awesome).

Jamie + Jeremy, thank you for allowing me to be part of your very special day. I had the best time really getting to know another side of the two of you and feel that we have this incredible bond because of it and I will treasure our time together more than you know.

I just love these two so much and I love having Jamie as part of our family and I know we are now better off with her.
